Name
2C School Hearing Officers as Change and Reform Agents: Turning Policy Into Purpose! (S)
Description

In recent years, there’s been a disproportionate use of exclusionary discipline as a sanction for violating school rules. Discipline policies are shifting from a zero-tolerance approach to one that focuses on prevention and keeping students in school. Many districts are implementing graduated discipline responses emphasizing early intervention and student support. This session examines the role of school hearing officers as change agents and how they can help enforce school rules while keeping students in a supportive school environment.
