Karen Gorman has degrees in air transportation, business, and law. She was a transactional involved in mergers and acquisitions before becoming a trial lawyer for the State Bar of California where she successfully prosecuted attorneys charged with misconduct. In 2000, she was appointed the LA Metro’s Chief Ethics Officer and in 2007 joined its Office of the Inspector General where she modernized the office, improved its expertise, and expanded its capabilities. She led efforts to protect taxpayer funds through investigations and audits that resulted in criminal prosecutions and restitution. In 2010, she wrote legislation to create the LA Metro Transit Court. She oversees the Administrative Unit that process the citations for fare enforcement and the Hearing Unit that conducts administrative appeals of parking and transit citations. She is a Certified Inspector General, Ethics Officer, and Hearing Officer.
