In addition to the ABA’s Model Code of Judicial Conduct for Hearing Officials, statutes also govern the ethical conduct of administrative officials in most jurisdictions. This session reviews both standards as they pertain to disqualification/recusal from presiding over a hearing and situations where recusal or disqualification would be desirable or necessary. We’ll also review legal opinions from various states regarding judges’ social media postings, as well as the circumstances under which administrative hearing officials may or may not take judicial notice.
