Expedited IDEA Hearings present unique challenges for the adjudicators to whom they are assigned. Given the tight procedural timelines, such cases require immediate attention of both staff and the judge to whom they are assigned. Matters such as a hearing dates, locations, and availability of witnesses can easily become problematic. It can also be a challenge to issue a decision within time allowed to do so. This session provides an overview of conducting expedited IDEA hearings from the perspective of a judge who has presided over such cases for many years.
