Over 42 million people receive benefits from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program and far more make application. When a state agency denies, reduces, or suspends SNAP benefits, the applicant or recipient is entitled to a fair hearing. Eligibility requirements, including income limits, work requirements, and countable resources are just the beginning of the issues involved in these hearings.
